Natural Remedies for Pneumonia

Pneumonia is an infection of lungs which usually causes due to bacterial infection or viral infection. The symptoms of pneumonia include painful and inflamed chest and lungs, problem in breathing, severe cold and flu symptoms like fever, swollen glands and excess mucus formation. The disease can last for a month or if it worsens then it may stretch up to a year. Natural and home remedies will help in getting out of this problem up to some extent.

  • Consume as much as protein as possible from different vegetables, remove excessive intake of animal protein from your food routine, as animal proteins are hard to digest, especially when you are sick. The sources of healthy protein are vegetables such as artichokes, beets, spinach, eggplant, potatoes, peas and cauliflower.
  • Consume 13 to 14 oz glass of apple/cranberry juice. This will help in adding antioxidants to your body. Avoid solid foods for breakfast, however you can eat small bowl of kefir or yogurt.
  • Chop up 5 to 6 garlic cloves along with half onion. Add 2 tsp. of honey and 9 to 10 oz. of water mix well and drink this mixture half an hour before your first meal. It will help to open the bronchial passage and helps you in staying comfortable throughout the day.
  • Potassium broth will also be useful if taken with lunch. You can prepare potassium broth by juicing 2 celery stalks, 2 carrots, 4 garlic cloves, pinch of parsley and two radishes. It is important to consume as much as potassium during a pneumonia session. Potassium helps to repair damaged lungs tissue. Avoid potassium broth in case of heart disease, as too much consumption is always dangerous in heart disease. Consult your doctor before opt for this solution.
  • Consumption 12 ounce glass of carrot juice at the time of dinner with 1tsp. of pepper powder will help to add antioxidants to the damaged lung tissues. Carrot juice is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin B, iron, potassium, magnesium and phosphorous.
  • Olive leaf extract tea of about 1 0r 2 cups can be taken before bed, works as natural antibiotic and makes your body strong to fight against bacterial infection. Olive oil is also available in the capsule, powder and liquid form, you can choose the form as your convenience.

Proper body care also help in fighting against this disease. Oxygen bath consisting of ¼ cup of sea salt, 2 cups of hydrogen peroxide, of about 20 to 30 minutes help you in oxidize the toxins present in your body. You can also get rid of the mucus built up by releasing your nose, pores and urine. Sauna bath or steam bath, once or twice in a week, for 15 to 20 minutes is helpful for opening the skin pores, which in turns gives exit for the toxins available in the body.
