Clove Oil For Baby Teething

After coming in this world a baby has to undergo many developmental stages. Teething is one of them. In some cases teething can start in just 3 months of age, whereas in others it begins in 12 months of age. As its an important developmental step, brings with it some problem and discomfort to the baby. But every baby doesn’t suffer too much. To some babies its so easy that without any pre information one fine morning you see two shining teeth burst out of the gums of your smiling baby. On the other side some babies are shaken by pain and suffering of teething. Gums become red, tender and swollen with pain and irritation. The symptom is accompanied with vomiting, diarrhea and fever. Baby refuses feeding or any other food.  Sleeping disorder and restlessness is seen.

The pre conception that the suffering is caused by teething, has been changed. These are side effects of teething. When the symptoms are severe, consult your doctor. But in mild symptom you can try home remedy. One old remedy of tooth problem is clove oil, which is used by adults, is also useful for babies.

In case of babies you can not use clove oil directly. There are so many clove oil based commercial pain reliever in market. You can prepare clove oil remedy at home also. For this get quality clove oil from any medical store. Dilute it with almond oil. You can apply it in the baby’s gum. But be careful that it should be very dilute, otherwise can cause blisters on the gum of baby. First of all check its concentration by applying it on your own gum. If it is very dilute then apply on the baby’s gum. You can apply it repeatedly but in very small quantity. Much quantity of clove oil can cause stomach upset. Being anesthetic in nature, clove oil numbs the gums for sometime and thus provides relief.

You can use some other home remedy to relief the baby. Due to irritation in gums baby wants to bite anything. Chill a spoon of blunt edge or a teething ring and give it to the baby to bite. Biting creates pressure over the gums which give relief and its chill effect soothes in the inflammation of the gum. You can give a chilled banana or a properly washed carrot to chew. Keep a water filled feeding bottle upside down in freezer. When water becomes ice give it to the baby to bite. You can massage the gum gently with properly washed finger. It will provide relief.

These are general home remedies to know. Nevertheless seek the opinion of doctor before applying any remedy, because babies in this age are so delicate that any experiment with them can be costly.
