Skin Anti Aging Herbal Remedies

It is now an established fact that with increasing age the elasticity of the skin keeps decreasing. As a result of age, the moisture content and fat layer under the skin which holds it, also reduces. Makeup which looked good in young age also needs to be changed. Excessive exposure to sunlight, dust and other atmospheric pollutants accelerates the skin aging process.

Excess of alcohol, smoking, and lack of exercise, tension and improper food habits are also responsible for the deterioration of the skin. Certain herbal extracts have been found to be extremely useful in deferring the skin aging process. These include the following:

Alfalfa, a Chinese herb, is a rich source of chlorophyll. When consumed, it helps to improve the digestive system. It helps improves blood circulation and the oxygen and nutrient supply to the skin is also increased. As a result of this, the skin elasticity improves, retarding the aging process.

Sage is a Greek herb which accelerates the healing process because of presence of antioxidant chemicals. These chemicals also help to prevent damage from free radicals.

Rosemary, a cooking herb, has been used for a long time for medical purposes. The antioxidant properties of this herb help prevent damage to skin and also retard the skin aging process.

Some other ways of keeping skin aging at bay are:

  • Before going to bed clean your face and then massage with milk, almond oil or coconut oil. This will help improve complexion and reduce fine lines.
  • Apply fresh aloe vera gel to your face, wash when dry. This is a remedy to prevent aging skin.
  • Mixture of honey with equal quantity of rose water. Apply on face and neck let it dry, wash with water. Honey has excellent skin anti aging properties. For still better results a spoon full of milk powder can be added.
  • For a perfect anti ageing and moisturising pack for the skin, mix one egg yolk, one tea spoon of honey, olive oil and vitamin E oil. Apply this for fifteen minutes and wash.
  • Boil a few basil leaves in water. When the quantity of water is reduced to one third, cool and drink. Switch to green tea. This has anti inflammatory and anti aging properties.
  • Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. These have anti oxidant properties and provide a lot of roughage to add bulk to waste product of digestion. These also help to prevent the ill effects of free radicals on your skin. Drink a lot of water to keep the skin hydrated.
  • Above all get adequate sleep. Complete and sound sleep is one of the best way of anti-aging.
